Love and politics
I overheard two gentlemen talking politics in the coffee shop this morning. They weren’t discussing which presidential candidate is a better choice; or in our current case which candidate is the least horrible, they were actually discussing very specific issues. They clearly had different opinions on each and every subject I overheard them discussing. I understand why politics are important, I really do, and I get it. I just don’t want to spend my time worried about the things I cannot see my actual impact with. This isn’t from any doctrine or intended to be anti- any doctrine; I’m just speaking from my experience and from my heart. The big picture just seems to be so much more than simply American politics to me, or any politics for that matter. If you want to make a difference in the election then by all means go vote in November, but nothing is being accomplished and nothing is being improved by sitting around arguing over what you think the solutions are, while not applying any action towards either proposed solution. I choose to spend my time doing the things I love with the people I love because that is how I feel I am making a difference. I think rather than spending so much time worried about who the next president is going to be, we should all spend more time asking ourselves “what did I do today?” and “who did it impact?” If the answer is no one, at all, didn’t make anyone laugh or smile today, didn’t put someone in a better mood, didn’t make someone somewhere feel loved, then I think tomorrow you should try harder. If politics are important to you then make time for it, but don’t let it consume you, love is so much more important. Also, try not to be irritated by the fact that politics are not important to me, I just prefer to dedicate 100% of my energy and actions to Love, I’ll let the rest worry about the politics.
